It’s really not as bad as the picture might suggest, although that was how it was when Saddleworth Golf Club started.  Nowadays we like to think we’re a bit more relaxed, whilst at the same time, we perhaps keep one eye on the traditions of the game.  This means that we have a set of dress code rules articulated to help you feel comfortable when you come to use our facilities, knowing that you are maintaining a reasonable and fair standard.

So, from the top:

In the Clubhouse - Wet or soiled clothing must be changed before entering any main clubhouse area.  Smart casual is perfect but we would not want to see football or rugby style shirts, shirts with large logos or trainers.  Men must have shoes and socks.  Also, men are permitted to wear shorts in the Clubhouse until 7.00pm.  Blue denim is permitted but it must be smart, and not work wear.

Club members attending the Annual General Meeting or other similar Special General Meetings are asked to dress more formally and men are required to wear jacket and tie.

The dress code for members’ social events will be decided on a function by function basis by the Social Committee and highlighted in the publicity.

On the Golf Course - Correct golf attire must be worn at all times which excludes trainers and T shirts.  Trousers must not be tucked into socks and footwear must be designed specifically for the game, except for the younger members of the Junior Section who may wear trainers.

Shorts must be tailored and free of any external pockets (such as cargo shorts) and must be worn with self colour knee length socks or white sports socks or trainer socks.

Baseball caps, hats or visors must be worn the correct way round and never worn in the clubhouse.

Using mobile phones - It is acceptable to bring mobile phones into the Clubhouse but they must be on silent mode.  If you receive a call the conversation must be conducted just inside the rear entrance to the Club.
